Music for Sight

Sunday, August 13 at 2 pm at Aldersgate United Methodist Church

Join us in a Fundraiser for Aldersgate's new cataract surgery ministry in Kenya! Come and hear nationally known singer-songwriter - guitarist Dave Nachmanhoff. Now living in northern California, he cut his musical teeth on Pete Seeger, country rock, Kingston Trio's early folk and '80s new wave. He was a finalist in the 2011 USA Songwriting Competition. Check out his website for more information:

Reservations are $25, and may be purchased on Aldersgate's (Click on Give and contribute by logging in or as a guest.) In addition, they may be purchased in the church office or at the door. Tax deductible donations specifically toward the Cataract Surgery Ministry may be made at any time in church, online, or during the event. Make checks payable to AUMC, Memo: Cataract Surgery.

Dave is a friend of our Ophthamologist, Dr. Michel Gelinas from Wisconsin, who volunteered with our team in February, performing cataract surgery on our first 7 patients from the village. Dr. Mike will be with us on the 13th to talk about the experience. He will also join Dave in a few songs!

We are excited that he will travel on our team again in Feb. 2018 and continue the partnership with local eye surgeon there in years to come.

ALL money from ticket sales and donations will go toward the purchase of a YAG Laser and a scan for measuring lens implant powers, which will be taken to Kenya and used in our next cataract surgeries in February. The instruments will be left in the Nyamira District Hospital (20 minutes from the Amani Reading Centre) for our further work, and for the Kenyan Ophthamologist there to use. We have a matching grant, so your donation will double in size. We hope to collect $5,000.

You will become a partner with us, and we will keep you posted about how your money was spent!
